Artists Biography

Dublin based artist Brian O’Neill has a background in construction spanning 38 years. Specialising in the conservation of Ireland's medieval structures through to the Georgian architecture which defines Dublin, Brian gained a great knowledge and appreciation for our built heritage. It is this passion for historical architecture that influences much of Brain’s art. As a mature student Brian completed a four year joint degree course in History of Art & Design and Ceramic Design, at Dublin's National College of Art & Design, in 2015. Following a successful Degree show Brian set up his Dublin based studio where he works on his ceramic Sculptural work, watercolour and acrylic paintings. Brian has developed a very distinctive style in his ceramic work, producing a series of ceramic sculptures of Dublin’s Victorian pubs. His ceramic sculptures have been based on rough sketches and photographs. However, recently Brian has produced wonderful, highly detailed watercolours of the structures he is working on these paintings are then used as a template for his ceramic works. The ceramic works can be bought alongside the watercolour as a set or as individual pieces. Brian’s works have been bought by many private collectors, Businesses and the Office of Public Works for the State art collection.
